It's The Playoffs!

Baketball Playoffs

76ers 93, Bucks 85

On a night when Allen Iverson was hurting and hit on only 13-of-35 attempts, a couple of other Sixers filled the void. Aaron McKie scored 23 points, while Dikembe Mutombo added 15 of his own, as well as 18 rebounds and four blocks, to help Philadelphia take a one game to zero lead in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Iverson's first nine shots were all misses, including a pair of lay-ups and an airball from 18 feet. But his poor shooting was matched by the Bucks' Glen Robinson, who went one for ten in the first half.

"We didn't let it get into the hundreds, and that's important the way they shoot," Sixers coach Larry Brown said.

Hockey Playoffs

Devils 4, Penguins 2

Hockey fans will get the match-up they wanted in the Stanley Cups: the Colorado Avalanche, the team with the league's best record, will face the defending champs, New Jersey Devils. Why? Because the Devils defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday night to win the series 4-1.

New Jersey outscored the Penguins 17-7 in the series, holding Lemieux and Jagr without a goal. Jagr, the league's leading scorer, didn't register a point, while Lemieux had three assists.

"I think that's a perfect model to compete for the Stanley Cup," Lemieux said of the Devils. "It's a great system they play. It's very simple. You just have to have an organization that is committed to playing it."

The Devils hope to put that system to the test against Colorado. New Jersey had no problem with the Avalanche in the regular season, winning both games by a combined 12-4 score while knocking out goalie Patrick Roy in each game.

"The regular season isn't always indicative of what's going to happen," said defenseman Ken Daneyko, who was drafted by the Devils in 1982 and has played in all their post-season games. "Playing a team once is nothing like facing them in a seven-game series."
