2001 Baseball Season Prediction
Okay, we're going out on a limb, here. But we say The Yankee's don't make it to the World Series for the first time in four years. Not only that, they don't even make it to the Playoffs! Here are the teams that will:

American League:
East Winners: Boston Red Sox
Two words: Manny Ramirez. Add them to some other words, like, Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez and you have the makings of a heck of an offense. Some new pitchers should shore up the rotation, too.
|
Central Winners: Chicago White Sox
The Pale Hose had the top record in the American League last year and for good reason. They're good! Add David Welles and short stop Royce Clayton and they just got better!
|
West Winners: Oakland A's
Last year's American League MVP, Jason Giambi, is salivating knowing that newly acquired outfielder Johnny Damon will be batting in front of him. Last year, Damon stole more bases than the entire A's team combined! |
Wild Card Winner: Cleveland Indians
Picking up sluggers Juan Gonzalez and Ellis Burkes should ease the pain of losing Manny Ramirez. If their pitchers stay healthy they should compete.
|
American League Pennant Winner:
Boston Red Sox
National League:
East Winners: New York Mets
Last year's NL pennant winners lost one of their top hurlers in Mike Hampton. But their starting five had an excellent spring. Look for Shortstop Rey Ordonez and third baseman Robin Ventura to have big years!
|
Central Winners: St. Louis Cardinals
Edmonds and McGwire repeat. After all, there's not much competition in this division.
|
West Winners: Colorado Rockies
You get what you paid for. And the Rockies dished out a lot of dough for Mike Hampton and Denny Neagle. Colorado finally has the pitchers to move them forward. |
Wild Card Winner: Atlanta Braves
Still a fine starting rotation. But losing John Smoltz and Andres Galarraga hurts.

New York Mets
