Make Your Own Clay

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1 cup of white flour
  • ¼ cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (2 teaspoons of each color you want)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 parent to help you around the stove

HERE IS WHAT YOU DO:

  1. Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in medium pot.
  2. Add water, food coloring, and oil.
  3. Stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. It will look like a big, disgusting mess, but don't worry. Keep stirring!)
  4. When the blob turns into a ball in the center of the pot, take it out carefully, let it cool, and put it on a floured surface. Squish it around until it's nice and soft. Now you're ready to make your masterpiece.
  5. Keep the clay fresh by storing it in an airtight container in the fridge.
